Designing Your Site for Search Engine Optimization

There are many languages which you are able to create a website with these days, but it is important to realize not all of them are very search engine friendly. When it comes to dynamic content and dynamically designed sites your search engine rankings will often suffer as result. Traditional HTML is by far the preferred means of website construction and having static pages or URLs is what is read most effectively by search engine spiders and is what will ultimately help you in achieving your best search engine rankings.

This issue of site construction leads onto the issue of website design and layout. Often the most flashy and fashionable sites with loads of creative graphics are not those that rank the best. After all search engine spiders are not impressed by trendy images and layouts, as they can only read text. This means that sometimes creating a well ranked site doesn’t necessarily mean that you need the professional graphic artist layout to go with it, content as always is still king. So with this in mind it is important that if you do want to impress your visitors that you do it conservatively not sacrificing your rankings, and losing loads of potential visitors, just to impress those that actually make it to your site.

So what does this mean? This means that you shouldn’t even place text in images that could be regular content that a search engine spider could crawl, nor should have loads of images taking up the top of your page. Search engines spiders read from top to bottom and from left to right so keeping in mind they are reading your site for content, and that the position of the content for search engine spiders matters as well, it is important to make sure that the bulk of your valuable content is found as close to the top of the page as possible.
